Former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, has been selected by the National Caucus of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) to be the party's next national chairman.
Ali Modu Sheriff's selection would only stand if confirmed by the party's board of trustees, members of whom are currently meeting in Abuja.
He was elected two times as the governor of Borno state on the platform of the All Nigerian Peoples party(ANPP) in 2003 and 2007, defeating the PDP candidate Kashim Ibrahim Imam in the two election.
