One of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Aspirant in Lagos named Adefenwa Ibrahim has just announced his defection to the Labour party, LP to contest as the Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council.
Hon Adefenwa made his political move few days after the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) accepted the nomination forms submitted by the Lagos PDP Executives led by the factional chairman, Prince Segun Adewale (Aeroland)
In a text message received by one of our correspondents, he had this to say:
Good morning to everyone, to all my Leaders and Elders, all my followers and supporters and all the constituents of Ejigbo Lcda.
A lot of questions have been asked in the last couple of days from different angles, from social media, from phone calls and even from one on one conversations about the platform I will be running the forthcoming local government election under and I kept on advising everyone to continue campaigning and to watch out.
We are all aware of the leadership crisis between the Senator Sheriff led faction and Senator Markafi led faction of peoples democratic party (PDP), which has been going on for over a year.
It is unfortunate that we found ourselves in this kind of situation while under the ruling party of the All progressive Congress (APC) led government. We (PDP) should be acting the role of opposition party but instead, the in-house power crisis at the National level of our party is weakening us. Charles Caleb Colton said and I quote, "Power will intoxicate the best hearts, as wine the strongest heads. No man is wise enough, nor good enough to be trusted with unlimited power".
I will also call your attention to what happened during the Ondo state and Edo state gubernatorial election where this power crisis made the PDP loose those elections to APC, so in an effort to prevent the disenfranchisement of the best hands and good candidates of the Senator Markafi led faction, we are going to be running under the platform of the Labour party.
I am announcing to this honorable house that myself, my vice chairman and all my councillors succeeded in winning our ticket under the Labour party during the primaries that were conducted on the 23rd and 24th of May, 2017 and we submitted our Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) nomination forms on the 3rd of June, 2017.
As at today we are left with 47 days to the LGA/LCDA election and we need to stay focused on the goal. We cannot afford to get distracted with what is happening in PDP. For now, Senator Salvador, Segun Adewale and LASIEC will settle the Lagos state PDP leadership crisis among themselves.
All I need is your support on how to strategize, plan for, and win the election in our Ejigbo Lcda, and I am hopeful that you will continue to support my campaign. Thank you to each and everyone of you for your patience and for believing in my dream and vision for the people of Ejigbo.
Hon. Adefenwa Ibrahim O. (A10)
